🇬🇧 🇫🇷 Receiving Foreign Satellite TV in Germany

Who says linear TV is dead has probably never tried picking up British or French satellite channels in Germany. Foreign Beam is my small, tech-driven side project aimed at doing just that: building a reliable, stable setup for receiving English and French satellite TV – no streaming, no VPNs, no geoblocking.

In this post, I’ll walk you through how I put together a bilingual satellite system using off-the-shelf hardware, some dish-alignment patience, and a healthy dose of trial and error. It goes beyond the usual Astra 19.2° setup – we’re talking multi-LNB configurations, DiSEqC switches, sat-finder apps, receiver tuning and the occasional frustration that comes with it.

Whether you want to watch the BBC, improve your French, or just enjoy tech projects with a practical twist – Foreign Beam has you covered with a hands-on guide, real-world insights, and maybe just the nudge you need to get up on that balcony (or into the yard).

🔭 Looking Ahead: SAT>IP

As a future-facing alternative to traditional coax setups, SAT>IP is worth keeping an eye on – it streams satellite signals flexibly over your home network to tablets, smart TVs, or even laptops.
